Jessica Wolfe to Run for State Senate
Former Richardson Cabinet Aide running in Albuquerque’s State Senate District 21
Albuquerque: Albuquerque native Jessica Wolfe – former Cabinet aide to New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and 1st Congressional District Candidate – today announced at the Democratic Pre-Primary Nominating Convention in Rio Rancho that she is withdrawing from the congressional race and entering the contest against incumbent Republican Kent Cravens for State Senate District 21, representing the far NE heights of Albuquerque, Placitas, Sandia Pueblo and the eastern side of the town of Bernalillo.
“This is the right opportunity for me and the right choice for the New Mexico Democratic Party this year,” Wolfe said. She went on to say,“There are very strong candidates in the 1st Congressional District Primary who will represent the people of New Mexico well. I feel I will better serve my community running for a state senate seat that has not had a Democrat on the ballot in 12 years. I grew up in this district and I plan to go to Santa Fe and fight for better health care and more high wage jobs for all New Mexicans.”
Wolfe served as Special Assistant to Cabinet Affairs for Governor Richardson, where she worked on issues such as clean water cooperatives and capital infrastructure projects in rural New Mexico. Wolfe also worked on educational issues in the state, having served as the Director of the New Mexico Fellows Program under Governor Richardson.
In addition to her work for the state, Wolfe has spent her career working within the nation’s health care system, fighting for increased access to care and improving quality measures. To learn more about Jessica please visit www.jessicafornewmexico.com.
